Freeride, the basic discipline of kitesurfing

Freeride - practiced here by the Martinican champion Mickael Neral at Pointe Faula - is the basic discipline of kitesurfing. It consists of sliding without challenge on the water while letting yourself be guided by the sail just for the pleasure of the sensations of sliding and freedom. The practice of this discipline requires a good mastery of the equipment composed of a board, a wing, a harness, several lines, and a bar, as well as a good knowledge of the safety instructions. The handling of the wing is acquired through perseverance and falls. Experts like Mickael Neral can freeride in complete relaxation, holding the bar at the fingertips of one hand.
