Every year, after having left Antarctica's frozen waters, humpback whales migrate to southern French Polynesia to mate and give birth. After a 2,500-mile journey, they remain in Austral Islands' waters for four months; the necessary time for their calves to be autonomous and able to undertake the return journey.
