The Louis Vuitton Foundation aims to be the jewel in the crown of contemporary culture in Paris. At the dawn of the 21st century, Paris had museums dedicated to all artistic periods, but it lacked a place devoted to contemporary artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The personal collection of Bernard Arnault, the CEO of the LVMH group, already included works by renowned contemporary artists. A meeting with Frank Gehry, one of the most renowned 20th century architects, led to the creation of the museum project. Since 2014, the Foundation has become an essential meeting place for the Parisian public and artists.
