Its discretion earned it the nickname ghost of the forest. The Eurasian lynx only hunts after dusk and blends in so perfectly with the forest environment that one can walk past it without seeing it. The lynx often attacks its prey by surprise. Its long legs with large pads prevent it from sinking into the snow, and the pressure on the ground is three times lower than that of the European wildcat (Felis silvestris).
