The site of the fortified castle of Guédelon has become the second most visited paying tourist site in Burgundy, after the prestigious Hospices de Beaune. It welcomes more than 300,000 visitors a year, including 50,000 children, which ensures its financial autonomy, and more than 600 temporary builders take part in its construction each year. About a hundred people from around twenty different trades (stonecutters, lumberjacks, carpenters, quarry workers, basket makers, potters, masons, blacksmiths, dyers, gardeners, etc.) are employed on-site, in addition to the guides and the hospitality and catering staff.
