The Mont-Dore Derby

The first Mont-Dore Derby was organized in March 2012. This off-piste race, which takes place every year in March, allows the best free-riders to compete on the slopes of Puy de Sancy. Their objective is to cover the resort's 2,099 ft (640 m) vertical drop as quickly as possible by taking the route of their choice with the sole obligation of crossing the finish line. The fastest participants can reach speeds of over 62 mph (100 km/h) despite the holes, bumps, or patches of ice.
