The Dewoitine 530 no6 F-AJTE exhibited at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace (Air and Space Museum) at Le Bourget is the aircraft of test pilot Marcel Doret (1896-1955). A gunner during the Great War, Doret obtained his military pilot’s licence in 1918 at the age of 22, then continued his training at the Ecole de chasse et d’acrobatie (Fighting and Acrobatics School) in Pau. The fighter aircraft manufacturer Emile Dewoitine spotted him at an air show and hired him as a test pilot in 1923. Marcel Doret became one of the best aerobatic pilots at the Vincennes air show in 1937, with his flights in a D.27 (renamed D.530 after the WWII).
