The cloister of the abbey
0
0
The cloister crowns the ‘Merveille’ (Wonder) as it is placed above the third floor of the convent building. It is both a distribution gallery which gives access to the different rooms of the abbey, such as the refectory, the church and the dormitory, as well as a space offered to monks for their personal meditation. The galleries have a double row of elegant columns, staggered by half a space, connected by small-ribbed vaults supported by very broken arches. On the west wall, three arches are open to the sea and turn the cloister into a belvedere.
