0
The Royal Castle of Collioure belongs to the departmental council of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Built on the site of a former Roman castrum, the fortress has been listed as a Historical Monument since 1922. Between the years 1276 and 1344, it was fitted out to accommodate the court of the Kings of Majorca. A guided tour is organized there regularly to discover the insides of the castle. The monument constituted the centerpiece of the defense system of the ancient fortified city, and its foundations plunge directly into the Mediterranean sea.
