Oedenbourg or Petit-Koenigsbourg castle is located on a rocky ridge in the commune of Orschwiller, 200 metres from Haut-Koenigsbourg castle. Built in the middle of the 13th century, Oedenbourg castle is linked to the history of its neighbour. It is mentioned in 1316 as a fief of the landgraves (lords) of Lower Alsace. Towards the end of the 14th century, it became the property of Emperor Sigismond. In ruins at the end of the 15th century, the Petit-Koenigsbourg appears in texts under the name of Oedenbourg which means “deserted castle”. Consolidated at the beginning of the 20th century, it has been classified as a historic monument since 1993.
