Created in 1923, the ABMC (American Battle Monuments Commission) is responsible for maintaining the many cemeteries dedicated to American soldiers who died during the Second World War. The Visitor Centre at Colleville-sur-Mer Cemetery, which opened on 6 June 2007, pays tribute to the courage and skill demonstrated during Operation Overlord and the liberation of Europe. The exhibition evokes the men and women who were the actors of this period, with their personal accounts accessible through interactive technologies. The Visitor Centre encourages younger generations to remember the values for which these young Americans fell.
