The restoration works of the Mont-Saint-Michel’s maritime nature required ten years. Completed in 2015, they have given a new appearance to this unique site. The new access bridge was designed by the architect Dietmar Feichtinger. The car park is now located 2.5 km from the Mont. Free shuttle buses and footpaths lead visitors to the Mont. There was an urgent need to restore the beauty of the islet by removing the road-dike built in the 19th century and the maritime car parks.
