The Burgundy Canal forms a gigantic hydraulic network of 150 miles (242 km) of waterways born from King Henry IV's initial dream of connecting the Channel to the Mediterranean. It crosses two Burgundy departments (Yonne and Côte d'Or) to connect the Yonne river to the Saône, passing through important towns in the region, such as Dijon.
