Lavender and lavandin
The ideal period to enjoy the flowering of lavender in Luberon stretches between mid-June and mid-July. Enthusiasts can also visit the Lavender Museum of Coustellet, dedicated to fine lavender, the original plant growing beyond 1,968 ft (600 m) of altitude in the dry highlands. It is characterized by its short, single-stranded stem, unlike lavandin, a taller-stemmed double-branched hybrid grown in rounded tufts at lower altitudes.
