Arriving at Saint-Cirq-Lapopie

To access Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, the walkers need to follow a road winding between oak woods, typical of the Lot region. The village then appears around a bend on the road. It is easily recognized by its bell tower and rock, towering over the Lot river. On this promontory, the lordly family Lapopie built the first castle of the village back in the 10th century. Ruins are all that is left of these fortifications nowadays.
