Laricio pine, a Corsican endemic species
0
0
The Laricio pine is an endemic species of Corsica, the only place where this tree grows naturally. This tree with extraordinary longevity is among the giants of Europe: it can reach 50 m (164 ft) high and 180 cm (6 ft) in diameter. It grows between 600 and 1,800 m (197 and 5,906 ft) altitudes, in the granitic and acid soils of the north, in the contrasting climate of the Corsican mountains.
