Inhabitants of the west coasts of the French littoral and the estuaries, gulls are very present in the port of Honfleur at the mouth of the Seine in the Calvados department. Larger than seagulls, their cousins of the Laridae family, gulls have white plumage on their heads, chests, bellies, and tails, but black or gray feathers on their backs. The bird's long, thick beak is yellow, and its cry is louder and more strident than that of the seagull.
