The Champagne appellation

The terroir of the Montagne de Reims is the largest of all the Champagne terroirs. Widely wooded and hilly, it stretches from Bouzy in the south (photo) to Cauroy-lès-Hermonville in the Saint-Thierry massif. It is the kingdom of the pinot noir, cultivated on 60% of the land, with which the winegrowers elaborate champagne cuvées called “blanc de noirs” (white wine obtained from black grapes). The grapes from these vineyards produce a powerful and distinguished Champagne. To benefit from the Champagne appellation, it is necessary to follow very precise technical and geographical specifications that ensure the quality of the wine.
