Lalique’s Bacchantes vase
2
0
Created in 1927 by René Lalique, the Bacchantes vase is still in the Lalique catalogue. Twenty years later, the glass vase, which has become emblematic of the Lalique style, was also produced in satin crystal. For its design, René Lalique was inspired by the Bacchantes, the young Roman priestesses who adored Bacchus and danced naked in his honour. To mark the 150th anniversary of René Lalique’s birth, Lalique produced 60 copies of the vase, each set in a transparent crystal cube.
