Laguiole, at the heart of the Aubrac

Anchored on a basalt hillock, the French village of Laguiole is located at an altitude of 3280 feet (1000 m) on the Aubrac plateau. Surrounded by a relief with an almost lunar appearance, it is famous for its cutlery but also its monumental bull statue. Paying homage to the cattle of the region, it is supposed to bring good luck to passers-by who touch it since 1947. The Laguiole knives were born on the Aubrac plateau and are now renowned throughout France.
