The significant tourist traffic around the Malrif lakes located in the Hautes-Alpes department on the GR58 hiking trail (Queyras tour) has direct consequences on the habitats and flora locally damaged by the trampling of the soil and plants. Although it is prohibited in natural parks, the excessive picking of certain scree plants such as Glacier genepi (Artemisia glacialis) also generates accelerated soil erosion.
