The four terraces of the Louis Vuitton Foundation offer an unobstructed view of the century-old trees and the large lawn in the foreground. The building is set in a green setting between the Bois de Boulogne and the Jardin d’Acclimatation to which it gives access. The American architect Frank Gehry was inspired by the greenhouses that adorned the garden in the 19th century, such as the Palmarium and the Winter Palace, to design the Foundation’s large glass windows. The architect used the combination of glass and metal developed during the Second Empire to design the futuristic sails of this great vessel dedicated to culture and creation.
