The viticulture in Roussillon
1
0
An emblematic place of viticulture in Roussillon, the Tautavel valley is home to the first evidence of human life but also of wild vines which date back 450,000 years and were discovered in the cave of the ‘Caune de l'Arago’. The presence of numerous flints inside the cave was seen as a sign of an exceptional terroir around Tautavel. The cultivation of vines in the surrounding area then began as a result of these discoveries. The bottom of the Verdouble Valley is exclusively intended for the cultivation of these vines classified as AOC (controlled designation of origin) Côte du Roussillon Tautavel.
