The town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is located on a vast alluvial plain of the Sorgues basin in the Vaucluse department. It is surrounded by the Monts de Vaucluse and the mont Ventoux which form a large setting around this nature-city whose many canals have earned it the nickname of 'Venice of Provence'. Although anthropized, the Sorgue, which crosses it and contributes to its unique identity, provides it with an exceptional natural heritage and a unique ecosystem with a high ecological value.
