The Lower Normandy coastline presents a great morphological variety, from the high cliffs of Cotentin to dune environments and long sandy beaches. Thickets of gorse, blackthorn, or privet host animal and plant species of great heritage interest such as the sea cabbage (Crambe maritima) or the terrestrial orchid Liparis de Loesel (Liparis loeselii).
