The Lower Normandy coastline presents a great morphological variety, from the high cliffs of Cotentin to dune environments and long sandy beaches. The Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel is a nursery and feeding ground of national and even international importance for fish and birds. Thickets of gorse, blackthorn, or privet host animal and plant species of great heritage interest such as the sea cabbage (Crambe maritima) or the terrestrial orchid Liparis de Loesel (Liparis loeselii).
