The Ayes valley and its three dales

The listed Ayes valley covers an area of 10,510 acres (4,253 ha) in the Hautes-Alpes department, where it connects Briançonnais to Queyras. Rich of a population of 1,470 inhabitants, it extends near Briançon. It is made up of three dales - the particularly photogenic Orceyrette dale and its eponymous lake (photo), the Ayes dale, and the Melezin dale - which converge at the Chalets des Ayes in Thillot.
