0
The octagonal Turret of the Clock rises to the right of the large portal of Saint Stephen Cathedral in Metz. There is already mention of a clock on this tower in 1382, and its dial was replaced in 1504. Under it, a stone frame displays the city's coat of arms. The turret is home to three bells that ring the hours, half-hours, and quarters. The largest weighs 4,409 lbs (2 tons) and the others 132 lbs (60 kg). They have punctuated the life of the inhabitants of Metz for centuries.
