From the height of its 82 ft (25 m), the tower of Dolder's gate aimed to impress attackers by the warlike aspect of its exterior facade, only adorned with arrow slits. The bell at its top gave the alarm in case of invasion. The Dolder, erected in 1291, is now a classified Museum of France. It tells the history of the successive lords of Riquewihr. Maps allow understanding the complex architecture of its defenses. On the first floor, a covered path walked along the ramparts. Its colorful interior facade contrasts with its austere exterior.
