Cutting of crystal
0
0
Cutting is both the most important and the most surprising part of crystal work. It brings out the brilliance of the material by giving it all the light effects possible. It is done with the help of abrasive wheels. It demands incomparable skill and confidence from the worker, for he cuts the crystal without hesitation, without the slightest mistake. It is the skill of the workers that has made Lalique crystal famous throughout the world. For each shape of cut, there are several different wheels, which are used in turn. Then, as the cutting has rendered the material matt and frosted, it must be polished again to restore its brilliance.
