Avenue Montaigne is today the epicentre of international haute couture. The movement was initiated by Christian Dior, who set up shop in 1946 a few steps from the Plaza Athénée Hotel. The designer often dined at the Relais Plaza, the hotel’s brasserie, and organised numerous fashion shows and photo shoots in the hotel’s salons. It was therefore logical to pay tribute to him through an exceptional place, the Eiffel Haute Couture Suite. In the room, a fabric workshop mannequin – handmade by the French company Stockman – stands alongside books on the couturier. The embroidered bed linen is by the Italian company Beltrami.
