The territory of the Monts d'Azur region became the 48th Regional Natural Park in France and the 6th in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in 2012. It constitutes an important link in an ecological continuity which goes from Camargue to Mercantour by forming a kind of 'Provencal Switzerland' marked by a rugged relief contrasting with a rather mild micro-climate.
