The Société des Ocres de France

At the end of the 19th century, the cost of ocher exploitation increased with the shift to underground extraction. The ocher companies of Burgundy joined forces with those of Luberon to create the Société des Ocres de France in 1901. Flourishing until the international crisis of 1929, the Société des Ocres de France managed to maintain its activity until the 1970s and the advent of chemical dyes.
