The Royale Esders

The Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse is often said to be the Louvre of the automobile. Among classic cars, the Bugatti Royale arouses fantasy because of its rarity, with only six copies remaining worldwide. Equipped with an eight-cylinder engine, the Royale Esders was larger than a Rolls-Royce while being lighter. With impeccable manufacturing, the Bugatti cars were tested for at least 621 miles (1,000 km) before delivery. Though particularly expensive, the Royale was incomparable with any other automobile of the time. The 1932 roadster displayed in Mulhouse belonged to clothing mogul Armand Esders. As he did not want to drive at night, the car is not equipped with headlights.
