The town of Collioure extends at the westernmost point of the French Mediterranean coast, very close to the Spanish border, and shares part of its history and culture with its Iberian neighbor. Surrounded by several other coastal towns such as Port-Vendres and Banyuls-sur-Mer, Collioure is home to 2,400 inhabitants known as colliourencs and colliourencques. As a meeting point between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees, the coastal town has been a major source of inspiration for many artists throughout its history.
