March 5th commemorates the day of the arrival of the Gospel that is to say the landing in 1797 in Matavai Bay (north of Tahiti) of the 29 “black hawks”, the missionaries of the Duff, the ship chartered by the evangelists of the London Missionary Society. For the most religious people in the world according to the New York Times, it is a bank holiday.
