If the archives bear witness to the predominance of vines on Château Léoube estate from the 19th century, only 111 acres (45 ha) of vines were cultivated there in 1997, against 173 acres (70 ha) today. In nearly twenty-five years, the British owners of the estate, Anthony and Carole Bamford, have implemented considerable works to rehabilitate the crops. The ground was reworked, the dead vines torn off, the plots cleaned, and the trellises completely redone. The new plantings received particular attention, from the rigorous selection of the plants to the rootstocks.
