The mechanical harvesting of lavender
0
0
On the Valensole plateau, the lavender harvest is mechanical. A tractor equipped with a box at the back, to which are added shears and a conveyor belt, harvests the lavender by passing between the rows. The front, made up of two claws, encloses the lavender plants on each side thanks to two rubberized ribbons in the shape of waves. They bring the cut lavender up a ramp into the box. The shears cut the lavender flush with the stems under the first leaves. Once filled, the box is emptied at the edge of the field.
