Sainte-Croix Lake is the fourth artificial reservoir in mainland France by its size, after the lakes of Der-Chantecoq, Serre-Ponçon and Orient. It covers a total area of 13.6 square miles (22 km²) and extends in a north-east / south-west orientation over a length of 6.83 miles (11 km) for a maximum width of 3.1 miles (5 km). With a maximum depth of 305 feet (93 meters), it contains 767 million cubic meters of water.
