The Tour Carbonnière (Carbonnière Tower) of Aigues-Mortes was built at the end of the 13th century, at the same time as the city's ramparts. The stones used for its construction were brush cut and came from the same quarry. After the civil wars' era, only a small garrison was left before the tower was gradually abandoned.
