Prosperity and economic ruin

The Speleological Association for the Study and Protection of Ancient Mines (ASEPAM) is active in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, where the Tellure mining park extends. It aims to make young generations aware of the depletion of resources throughout the site's history case study. The Saint-Louis mine was among the most prosperous metalliferous deposits in France in the 16th century. It brought prosperity to the region but also economic ruin and precariousness when its exploitation stopped. The association tries to establish a parallel with the use of fossil fuels nowadays.
