In Nice, the 'Baie des Anges' is bordered for 4.3 miles (7 km) by one of the most famous avenues in the world : the 'Promenade des Anglais' which links the current Quai des Etats-Unis to the Edouard-Croniglion-Molinier promenade. Built in the early 1820s by the wintering British community and financed by a subscription launched by the Anglican pastor Lewis Way to his compatriots, it gives the city its aesthetic identity between waterfront and palm trees. The original form of this path, which originally was not intended to lead from one point to another but only to admire the bay and contemplate the sea horizon, has given rise to a new panoramic and seaside town planning made up of buildings. only located on the north side and facing the sea.
