The Simmental cow is a cow native to Switzerland where the reputation of cattle is old. It is named after the Simme valley ‘Simmenthal’ where the majority of the cattle wear a red piebald color dress. This rustic cow is known for the high quality of its meat and milk. Indeed, this breed is recognized and sought after for these two aspects, which is not the case for all and differentiates it from other cattle breeds. In 2018, there were 40 million Simmental cows worldwide, making it one of the world's leading breeds in numbers and by far the leading breed in Europe!
