The first clinic for turtles in Europe
0
0
The tortoise clinic, created by the SOPTOM association (Station for the Observation and Protection of Tortoises and their Environments) at the entrance to the Tortoise Village of Carnoules, is the first medical center dedicated to tortoises and turtles in Europe. The practitioners who officiate there - here Franck Bonin and Stéphane Gagno - strive to cure the turtles entrusted to them in order to allow their reintroduction into their original natural environments. Initially dedicated to the preservation of the highly endangered Hermann's tortoise - the only land tortoise in France - the association and its clinic have extended their field of intervention to the study, care, and protection of all terrestrial and aquatic, French and exotic, tortoises and turtles.
