The common egg-eater (Dasypeltis scabra) is an harmless snake. As its names suggests, it exclusively feeds on eggs. When threatened, it forms a horseshoe-shaped position with its body and rubs its scales against each other to initiate a kind of swishing sound. This intimidation is effective against predators.
