A metallurgical ladle is a metallic container lined with refractory materials. It serves to transport molten metal, and it has a capacity of around 44 lbs (20 kg) in foundries. The temperature of the incandescent mixture of iron and carbon it carries can rise to 2,553° F (1,400° C). The ladle is equipped with a spout and a wheel that allow pouring the molten metal into a mold. The whole casting is used in molds of variable sizes at the GHM factory.
