The beach of the romantics

Cabourg beach in the Calvados department runs for 2.4 miles (4 km) of fine sand along the Promenade Marcel Proust. Bordered by the Belle Epoque villas, the Grand Hôtel, and the Casino, it is prolonged to the east by Cap Cabourg beach and its dunes and to the west by Home-Varaville beach. Nicknamed the beach of the romantics for its color-changing pastel sands, it stretches as far as the eye can see at low tide and is covered in a misty coat on days with heavy swells.
