Built from September 2005 to carry the flame of the 15th Asian Games in Doha (1-15 December 2006), The Torch Doha was completed in November 2007 at a cost of 133.4 million euros. With a diameter varying from 39 and 59 ft (12 and 18 m), the tower has a cylindrical reinforced concrete core surrounded by a lattice of steel beams. The individual building modules consist of steel columns, concrete slabs, and external ring beams bolted to the concrete core to support glass panels. Spread over 114,829 ft² (35,000 m²), the 51 floors of the five-star hotel are served by 17 lifts. At 780 ft (238 m) above ground level, the top floor houses an observatory deck and a revolving restaurant. On the 19th floor, an ovoid cantilevered swimming pool seems to levitate between the sky and the ground.
