The yellow-legged gulls (Larus michahellis) nest on the coasts but also along the rivers and on the shores of lakes, like here that of Serre-Ponçon in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. They nest in colonies directly on the ground previously scraped to form a cavity which they line with grasses, twigs, algae or various debris.
