Navigation on the Yonne river

The main gateway to Burgundy when leaving Île-de-France, the Yonne is a beautiful and wide navigable river from Montereau to Auxerre, over 67 miles (108 km) punctuated by 26 locks. The locks with inclined walls are most often equipped with floating pontoons to facilitate their crossing. Its water draft (height of the submerged part of a boat) varies between 5.2 and 6.8 feet (1.60 and 2.10 meters) and its air draft (height allowing the passage of boats under river bridges) between 14.1 and 17.2 feet (4.30 and 5,25 meters) depending on the sections.
