Housed in a former 13th-century Dominican convent in the heart of Colmar, the Unterlinden Museum is a landmark of Alsace’s cultural heritage. Fully refurbished and expanded in 2015, the museum now features an underground gallery that runs under Unterlinden Square and the Sinn Canal. Intended to link the cloister and the building dedicated to modern art, the passageway consists of three rather narrow exhibition rooms, in a row. The last room (photo) is reserved for collections of landscapes and portraits by the great masters of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
